Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano leather bag for a while now. It’s not cheap, you know? I finally made up my mind to remake one myself.
First, I visited the PRADA official store. You know, just to get a good look at the bag. I took a bunch of pictures, noted down every detail I could. The texture of the leather, the stitching, the hardware, everything. I even measured the dimensions, trying to be as precise as possible.
Then came the hard part – finding the right materials. I spent days searching for Saffiano leather that matched the original. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I ordered samples from different suppliers, comparing them to the pictures I took at the store. Finally, I found a leather that was close enough.
Next, I started working on the pattern. The PRADA Galleria bag, that’s the full name, it has many pieces. I drew the pattern on paper first, then I cut the leather according to the pattern. This part took forever, 83 individual pieces! I had to be super careful not to mess it up.
- Cut the leather pieces.
- Sew the pieces together.
- Attach the hardware.
Then came the sewing. Oh boy, the sewing. I sewed and sewed, piece by piece. It was tough, especially the parts with the zippers. The bag has two side zippered compartments, which are great for storing documents, but they were a pain to sew. The Galleria is truly a workhorse bag and fits anything and everything.
After all that work, I finally had my very own Remake PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It’s not perfect, there are a few flaws here and there. People see that, they know it’s a Galleria. But overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I learned a lot during this process, and I have a new appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into making these bags.
The funny thing is I did it! I made myself a PRADA bag and it looks amazing.
