Okay, so, I’ve been wanting a new bag for a while, and I’ve always liked the look of Prada. You know, classy, simple, but still kind of a statement. I finally decided to try to make my own version of the Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag. That’s the one I really loved from their specialty stores.

First, I did a little digging. I learned that Saffiano leather is this special kind of treated leather, and it doesn’t get that worn-in look over time like other leathers. It’s supposed to be super durable. I also found out that these bags don’t hold their value, but they’re still well-made. I thought it was funny that everyone online was saying to buy used ones because they don’t keep their value. I decided to start from scratch.

I found some leather that felt pretty good. They said it was called “full-grain” leather. The guy at the leather shop told me it could be either “chrome-tanned” or “vegetable-tanned”. Sounds pretty complex, right? I just picked the one that felt the strongest and looked the nicest.

Then I started cutting. I measured out the pieces based on pictures I found of the Galleria bag online. I think the real ones were introduced in like, 2007 or something. It’s a pretty simple, structured design. Cutting the leather was kind of tough, but I managed. After a few mishaps, I finally had all my pieces ready.

Next, I started stitching. I tried to copy the stitching I saw on the real bags in the pictures. It was a lot of hand-stitching, which took forever. I poked myself with the needle so many times! But slowly, the bag started to take shape.

After many hours of work, I finally put it all together. Added the handles, the little metal feet, and even a little inside pocket. I know it’s not perfect, but it really does look like a mini version of that Prada Galleria bag!

I’m super proud of how it turned out. It might not be a real Prada, but it’s something I made myself, and that’s pretty cool. Plus, I learned a ton about working with leather. Now, all that’s left is to show it off!
