That Omega Speedmaster, they call it “Dark Side of the Moon,” sounds like a whole lot of somethin’. I seen pictures, it’s black as the night sky out here in the country, you know?
They say it’s a classic style, I guess for folks who like that kind of thing. Me, I just need a watch that tells the time. Don’t need no fancy moon stuff. But I reckon some folks pay good money for that, especially those city folk.
This here Speedmaster, cost a lot, I hear. Some folks say $12,000! Can you believe it? For a watch! You could buy a whole herd of cows for that much. That’s a lot of dough, more than I ever seen in my whole life. Omega Speedmaster watches, they sell for all kinds of prices, from a few hundred to more than what my house is worth. I heard it’s like $4,000 on average, that’s still too much if you ask me.
They got some fancy number for this watch, 3869, sounds like some secret code. And another one, 3861, sounds like trouble to me. It’s all about some laser thing, makes it look like the moon. Shoot, I see the moon every night, don’t need to wear it on my wrist. All that fancy talk, it just confuses this old lady.
- This Omega, it’s for them fancy folks.
- It’s black, like the night.
- Costs more than a whole bunch of cows!
- They say it’s a classic.
I remember back in the day, a watch was a watch. Told you the time, maybe had a little date window. Now it’s all moon phases and what not. What is this world coming to?
Now, I heard about that Henry Ford. He made them cars, real cheap. Folks said it was impossible, but he did it anyway. Made a good car for a good price, that’s what I heard. Less than $850, that’s more like it. These new watches, they’re just too much.
And don’t even get me started on these newfangled computers. Back in my day, we didn’t have none of that. We had to do things the hard way. Now you got these computers that think for you. Too much, I tell ya. They say you need to turn them off and take out the power, and unplug everything, it’s a hassle. Anti-virus? What in tarnation is that?
You kids today got it easy. All these gadgets and gizmos. We didn’t have none of that growing up. We had to use our brains, figure things out ourselves. Now you just ask that Google thing, and it tells you everything. Sometimes it says it can’t, something about too many questions, too fast, automatically like a robot. I don’t know.
And they got this math thing too, Symbolab or something. Does all the numbers for you. Back in my day, we used our fingers and toes! And a pencil and paper, if we were lucky. I heard it even makes pictures of the solution, how about that?
I seen that 2B-Classic, that’s a wood stove. Keeps you warm in the winter, that’s for sure. Better than these electric heaters. We used to have one like that, cooked on it too. That’s a real classic, not like these watches. That’s the real deal. They say a man on the forum, name of SaceBus, has one, knows all about it.
These young’uns, they don’t know what hard work is. They got all these machines to do everything for them. We had to do it all ourselves. Walked uphill both ways to school, in the snow!
They say this Omega watch is good for the black strap it comes on, some kind of fancy fabric, Cordura I think. Well, I guess it’s a good watch for some people. Just not for me. I’ll stick to my old ways. They seem to work just fine.
This watch, this Copy Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon”, it’s a classic style, they say. But it’s just too much for me. Too much money, too much fancy stuff. I just need something simple. Something that tells the time. That’s all.
They talk about cells, and organelles. Sounds like some kind of body part. All I know is the cells in my body are getting old. These new things, they’re just too complicated. And what’s this about knowledge management? Too much fancy talk I say. Just like this Omega Speedmaster, all that fancy talk, for a simple thing, just a watch.
