Hey everyone, it’s been a while! Today I want to share my little project of trying to get a high imitation Rolex GMT-Master II with the Pepsi bezel. You know, the one with the red and blue, pretty iconic. I’ve always loved the look, but the real deal? Way out of my budget. 17,749 dollars? That’s crazy!
So, I started digging around. I saw someone online say they were trying to find a replacement insert for their “16710 Pepsi”, so I figured that was a good starting point. I’m not really a watch expert, you know, just a regular guy who likes cool stuff. I spent hours on forums, reading posts from years ago. Some folks were talking about a “16710 Coke bezel”, which is the black and red one, I guess. I even saw something about a “126710BLRO Pepsi”, which I think is a newer model. Too much info, honestly.
Then, I stumbled upon this “Ocean 39 Vintage GMT Premium Ceramic” thing. It looked kinda similar, and it said “Swiss automatic” and “39mm case size”. Sounded fancy, but I wasn’t sure if it was what I was after. I kept searching, but it was mostly people trying to sell their used Rolex watches. Not exactly what I was looking for either.
- The first thing I did was look up “Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi” online. The prices were insane!
- Then I started reading old forum posts about people trying to fix or replace their bezels.
- I found this “Ocean 39” thing, but it didn’t seem quite right.
- I realized there are a ton of different models and years for these watches. It got confusing.
- Finally I found a seller online that seemed legit.
I noticed something about the numbers on the bezels. Some pictures I saw, the numbers were super close to the edge, almost touching. Others had the numbers more in the middle, with a bit of space. No clue what that meant, but it was something I started to pay attention to.
Honestly, the whole process was kind of a headache. I just wanted a watch that looked like the real thing, but without the crazy price tag. After a lot of back and forth, I finally found a seller online who seemed legit. He sent me a bunch of pictures, and the watch looked pretty good. The numbers on the bezel were kind of in the middle, which I liked.
I pulled the trigger and bought it. When it arrived, I was pretty excited. It definitely looked the part, at least to my untrained eye. The red and blue bezel was shiny, and the watch felt solid.
So yeah, that’s my story of getting a high imitation Rolex Pepsi. Was it worth it? For me, definitely. I get to enjoy the look of a classic watch without breaking the bank. It is a good experience.
